mousebox2In the 1930's Home Foundry Produced molds for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto and Donald Duck. I have seen the mould containing Pluto consistently misattributed not only to Allied Toy Company but also as Goofy rather than Pluto. However reseaching the catalogs clearly show the models from moulds of the Home Foundry Company and while Disney afficianados would know just by looking at him, the Home Foundry catalog identifes him as Pluto NOT Goofy.

These molds were sold in various combinations. The Mickey/Minnie/Pluto set could be purchased as a Deluxe Foundry set titled EM-Mickey Mouse for $1.95. This set included the mould; 2 wooden handles; electric casting ladle and base; mould vise; a paint brush; and 4 pigs of lead. You could also purchase the same mould in a DM-Mickey Mouse kit that also included everything from the EM set plus 2 bottles of paint; 2 paint brushes and samples of the three moldels for $2.95. Additionally you could purchase the two different molds individually with Mickey Mouse (facing left) Minnie Mouse and Pluto on one mold, and Mickey Mouse (smaller and facing right) and a long billed Donald Duck on a second mold. These "Extra Standadrd Moulds" were available for 95 cents each: C41-Mickey/minnie/Pluto mould and C43-Donald Duck/Mickey Mouse. Of these two moulds I have only ever seen the mould containing Pluto (which I have) The other mould containing the long billed Donald Duck is apparently very rare with only models showing up very rarely on the various auction sites. I suspect the rarity of the second mould is due to it only being sold as and extra, rather than in the set.
